One-Three Punch for Team Rockstar Energy Polaris Racing in Barrie

Team Rockstar Energy Polaris Racing's Iain Hayden and Lee Butler took up where they left off in Quebec two weeks earlier by taking control of the triple-header Royal Distributing Cup at Georgian Downs in Barrie, ON.

As he did in Rouyn Noranda, Hayden took home the overall top podium slot and with it the lead in the Pro Open points chase, three rounds into the CSRA Snowcross Championship Tour.

The defending champ rose to the occasion by hammering down convincing wins in Friday and Saturday's finals. On Sunday he recorded second place at the finish line, which was good enough for the weekend's overall.

Hayden came to Georgian Downs intent on putting his Polaris IQ in the winner's circle and his form on the track during practice and qualifiers left no doubt in anyone's mind that he was going to be the man to beat.

In his qualifiers on Friday, Hayden snared 2-1 results, following that up with a win in the final. Saturday's races couldn't be improved upon as the four-time Pro Open Champion made it a perfect 1-1-1 outing.

On Sunday, Hayden capped off the weekend with 1-2 results in his qualifiers, to then greet the checkered in second place in the final.

"It would have been nice to win on Sunday, too, but all in all it was a good weekend. A triple-header really keeps you on your toes. You can make up a lot of ground, but you can also lose some, because a lot more can go wrong with your sled when it's expected to get you through nine races," Hayden said. "As it turned out everything ran like a dream for me. My IQ more than did its job and I was able to move from second place in the points into the lead."

Meanwhile, Butler held down his own making the podium eight out of nine races. Consistency, one of Butler’s trademarks, saw him finish the weekend in third overall. In Friday’s qualifiers he recorded 2-3 results, crossing the finish line in second place in the final behind his teammate.

Saturday saw the former champ stay in the mix with 3-2 finishes in his qualifiers while taking fourth in the final. 2-3 results in Sunday's qualifiers and third at the finish line in the final ensured Butler and Team Rockstar Energy Polaris third overall for the weekend to compliment Hayden's overall win.

"The racing was really close up front and even though I didn't grab a win this weekend I was happy with my effort. The track turned out to be one line, which made it difficult to pass in the finals," Butler said. "Iain and David [Joanis] were in top form battling for first place in the rankings, so settling for 2-4-3 behind those guys was as good as it was going to get for me. The sleds worked great and everybody worked really hard, so at the end I think everyone was happy with the results."

In Pro Lite Open action, JB Dennis couldn't quite get a handle on the track taking Friday's checkered in a distant 13th place in the final. On Saturday he rebounded in the Pro Lite Stock class taking third in the final. He suffered a get-off, however, that resulted in a stretched ACL and a Sunday on the sidelines instead of competing in the Pro Lite Open class.
